Cricket Formats and Major Tournaments

To understand betting, it helps to know which factors matter most in each format.

T20 — Fast-Paced Cricket

In this 20-over format, a single ball can change the game. BPL, IPL and the ICC T20 World Cup attract the most attention in Bangladesh's betting market. With the possibility of quick wickets or big sixes, live odds in T20 shift from moment to moment.

ODI — 50-Over Strategy

In one-day internationals, the depth of a team's batting and the middle order's role matter a great deal. There is more time to read the direction of an innings compared to T20, so there is more room to plan bets on total runs or wicket-based markets.

Test — A Five-Day Contest

In Test cricket, pitch conditions, weather and session-by-session changes have a big effect on betting markets. A draw is a possible result, so odds are offered for three outcomes — which is not the case in T20 or ODI.

Football and Other Sports Betting

Alongside cricket, win vibe also offers betting on football and other sports. The betting structure for these sports differs somewhat from cricket.

Football Betting

Football matches last 90 minutes and a draw is a common result, making the 1X2 market (home win, draw or away win) the most widely used in football. In cricket, a draw only occurs in Test matches — T20 and ODI always produce a winner — so the number of markets and the odds structure are different. Markets like goal scorer or correct score do not exist in cricket.

90 Minutes 1X2 Market Draw Possible

Other Sports

Kabaddi, badminton or table tennis — each sport has its own scoring system, so handicap and total markets work differently. The innings-based structure of cricket does not exist in these sports, so the number of betting markets is comparatively smaller. Handicap Total Various Formats

Popular Betting Markets

Below is a plain explanation of which markets are available in cricket betting and how each one works.

Match Winner

A bet on which team will win the match. In T20 and ODI there are only two possible outcomes; in Test there are three. Example: if you back team A and they win, your bet is successful — otherwise it is not.

Most Popular

Toss Winner

This market is simply about which team will win the toss. The result is completely independent and has no connection to how the match plays out. Example: you can bet on team B to win the toss.

Simple Market

Top Batsman

A bet on which player within a specific team will score the most runs. If an opener performs well, their odds shorten; if a middle-order batter is in form, the opportunity there increases.

Performance Based

Total Runs Over/Under

A bet on whether the total runs scored in a specific set of overs or an entire innings will be above or below a set number. Example: will total runs in the first 10 overs be over or under 70?

Statistics Based

Top Bowler

A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in an innings or the full match. If the pitch suits spin, the spinner's odds shorten; if there is seam movement, the pacer's chances improve.

Bowling Analysis

Multi Bet

Combining multiple selections into one bet. Example: if three selections have odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.90, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.26 (approximately), so a ৳100 bet returns ৳426 — but all three must win; if one loses, the entire bet is lost.

Handicap Betting

A virtual run advantage is given to the weaker team to even out the difference in strength. Example: if team A is given a 20-run handicap, the final margin is assessed with that virtual advantage applied. In this market, the margin matters — not just the match result.

How to Read Odds

In betting, odds are written in three different formats. All three convey the same information — only the way they are expressed differs. Two complete examples are given below.

Decimal

The simplest format. Total return = stake × decimal odds. Example: a ৳500 bet at odds of 2.25 gives a total return of ৳1,125 (৳625 profit + ৳500 stake).

Fractional

Common in the UK. 5/4 means ৳5 profit for every ৳4 staked. Decimal 2.25 = fractional 5/4. Using the same example: a ৳500 bet returns ৳625 profit plus the original stake, totalling ৳1,125.

American

Plus (+) shows profit on a ৳100 bet; minus (−) shows how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit. +125 means ৳125 profit on a ৳100 bet. Decimal 2.25 = American +125.

Example 1 — Betting on the Underdog

Team A can win, with odds of decimal 2.25 = fractional 5/4 = American +125. A ৳500 bet returns ৳1,125 total if team A wins (৳625 profit + ৳500 stake). If team A loses, the ৳500 is gone.

Example 2 — Betting on the Favourite

Team B is the favourite, with odds of decimal 1.80 = fractional 4/5 = American −125 (negative odds mean you need to stake ৳125 to make ৳100 profit). A ৳500 bet returns ৳900 total if team B wins (৳400 profit + ৳500 stake).

Live In-Play Betting — Odds Change with Every Ball

Live

Live betting means placing bets while the match is in progress. In cricket, odds update instantly with every wicket, every boundary and at the end of each powerplay.

Example: if team A loses two wickets in the first over, their odds of winning go up (meaning their probability drops) while team B's odds come down (meaning their probability rises). In a single match, odds can shift hundreds of times.

In T20, odds move fastest during the death overs (overs 16–20), because only a few balls remain and each one carries a lot of weight.

Live betting also offers a cash-out option, which lets you secure a portion of your winnings before the match ends or limit a larger loss.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Bet

Betting is a form of entertainment — no strategy guarantees a profit. That said, a few things can make for a better experience.

1

Understand the Market First

Before placing a bet, read the rules of that market carefully. Total runs over/under and handicap markets can have conditions that are a bit more involved.

2

Keep a Separate Bankroll

Set aside a specific amount for betting that you can afford to lose without it affecting your daily life. It is a good idea for each bet to be a small portion of that total amount.

3

Be Careful with Multi Bets

In a multi bet, one losing selection ends the entire bet. Longer multi bets may show a higher potential return, but the risk rises in proportion. Starting with fewer selections is the wiser approach.

4

The Pressure of Quick Decisions in Live Betting

In-play odds change fast, which can lead to placing bets in a rush. It is better not to enter live markets without a clear plan. You can find more information about betting on the FAQ page.

5

Reading the Terms and Conditions Matters

Settlement rules can differ across markets. For full details, take a look at win vibe's terms and conditions — they clearly set out bonus conditions and betting rules.

Cricket Betting Common Questions

Answers to some frequently asked questions about cricket betting.

In T20, the match ends in 20 overs, so odds shift much faster and every ball carries more weight in live betting. In ODI, the 50-over structure gives more time for markets to develop, with separate markets for different phases of the innings (powerplay, middle overs, death). In Test cricket, a draw is a possible result, so odds are offered for three outcomes — which is not the case in T20 or ODI.

A multi bet can generally include several selections. However, every selection must win — if even one loses, the entire bet is lost. For example, if three selections have odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.90 respectively, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.26 (approximately), so a ৳100 bet returns ৳426 — but only if all three win. The more selections you add, the higher the risk.

In live betting, odds update in real time based on the score, wickets fallen, run rate and overs remaining. When a wicket falls, the batting team's chances of winning drop, so their odds go up. When a boundary is hit, chances improve and odds come down. In T20, with only 20 overs to play, every change has a bigger and more immediate effect.

In a handicap market, the weaker team is given a virtual run advantage. For example, if team B is given a 20-run handicap, those 20 runs are added to the final margin when settling the bet. If team A wins by only 15 runs but team B had a 20-run handicap, then team B is considered the winner in the handicap market. This market depends on the margin, not just who won the match.

Both BPL and IPL are T20 franchise leagues, so the core betting market structure is the same. However, pitch conditions, weather and team compositions differ. IPL features more international players, making team strengths relatively balanced. BPL is played in local conditions, so pitch behaviour can vary. At win vibe, the main markets — match winner, toss, total runs and others — are available for both leagues.
